# Client consultation recordings that only the lawyer can open

A lawyer's consultation call recordings are stored on the phone without encryption by default, so they can leak through a lost phone, a malicious app or a cloud backup. When a call ends, voice-lock encrypts the recording on the device with the lawyer's own password and deletes the original only after verification.

## What is the risk with consultation recordings piling up on a phone?

Galaxy call recordings are saved **in plain form, with the other party's number in the file name**. Any app with storage access, anyone who borrows the phone for a moment, and an automatically backed-up cloud account are all ways for a recording to leak.

For a lawyer, leaked consultation content can bear directly on the duty of confidentiality (Article 26 of the Attorney-at-Law Act). If recordings have to be kept, it is safer to keep them in a form **only the lawyer can open**.

## How does voice-lock protect them?

It encrypts automatically when a call ends, deletes the original only after verification, and asks for the password every time you play a recording.

#### Encrypted automatically after the call

The file from Galaxy's built-in call recorder is encrypted on the device with the lawyer's own password, using a different key for every recording.

#### Original deleted only after verification

The encrypted file is opened again, and the original is deleted only after confirming it is identical. This check cannot be turned off, and each folder can also be set to keep the original.

#### A password for every playback

A fingerprint opens only the list. Playing a recording always takes the vault password.

## Can the server or the developer see the recordings?

**No.** The password, recovery code, encryption keys, phone numbers, exact call times and audio are never sent to the server. The server keeps only ciphertext and the recording date (year-month-day). The keys that open recordings are locked so that only your password and recovery code can unlock them.

So the developer does not know the password either and cannot restore recordings. If both the password and the 24-word recovery code are lost, no one can open the recordings.

## Can an office use it on several devices?

**Yes — Premium links up to 5 devices** (100 GB of cloud storage). With cloud sync (subscription) turned on, signing in on another device with the same Google account and vault password lets it download the ciphertext and play recordings. Devices no longer in use can be removed in device management.

Because the devices share one vault, every linked device sees the same recording list, and everyone needs to know the vault password. To keep recordings separate per person, each person should use their own account.

## How do I export recordings for use in court?

Use **Export as original**. The lawyer chooses where to save, each export asks for the password and a confirmation, and the screen warns first that the exported file is not encrypted. Standard exports one recording at a time; Premium exports up to 100 selected recordings at once.

## What should I check before adopting it?

- It is **Android only**, and automatic detection works with Galaxy's built-in call recorder. Files from other recording apps can be encrypted one by one with "Encrypt a file" (파일 직접 암호화). iPhone is not supported.

- After a call ends, **the original stays on the device for a few minutes** until encryption and verification finish.

- If both the password and the 24-word recovery code are lost, recordings cannot be recovered. Keep the recovery code somewhere safe, such as on paper.

- Recordings must be lawful. Recording a call you take part in is permitted, but recording a conversation between other people is illegal under Korea's Protection of Communications Secrets Act.

## How much does it cost?

**Standard** suits a solo lawyer; **Premium** suits an office using several devices. Prices are shown on the Google Play purchase screen.

## Frequently asked questions

### May I record calls with clients?

Under Korea's Protection of Communications Secrets Act, a party to a conversation may record a call they take part in. Recording a conversation between other people is illegal. Whether to tell the other party is up to your office's policy.

### If I lose my phone, will the recordings leak?

Recordings encrypted by voice-lock cannot be played without the vault password. However, for a few minutes right after a call, until encryption finishes, the original remains on the phone.

### Can the developer recover my recordings?

No. The server holds only ciphertext, and the password, recovery code and keys are never sent to it. If both the password and the 24-word recovery code are lost, no one can restore the recordings.

### Does it work on iPhone?

No. It is Android only, and automatic detection works with Galaxy's built-in call recorder.

### Can it encrypt files from other recording apps?

Yes, one at a time, with "Encrypt a file" (파일 직접 암호화) in Settings.
