Terms of Service
These are the terms of service that apply to the call recording encryption app "voice-lock" (package name org.j2w2.voicelock). This English version is provided for convenience; if it differs from the Korean version, the Korean version prevails.
Article 1 (Purpose)
These terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the call recording encryption service "voice-lock" (the "Service"), developed and operated by WISP (the "Company"), and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of users and the Company.
Article 2 (Definitions)
- Service — the Android app "voice-lock" distributed through Google Play, and the server the Company operates for cloud sync.
- User — anyone who installs and uses the Service.
- Vault — the bundle of encrypted recordings and encryption keys that can be opened only with the user's password and recovery code.
- Master password — a password of 12 or more characters set by the user, used to open the vault and play recordings.
- Recovery code — 24 English words that can open the vault if the password is forgotten.
- Local mode — using the Service only on the device, without logging in.
- Cloud sync — the feature that lets the user log in with a Google account, upload encrypted recordings to the server and use them on multiple devices.
Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of the Terms)
These terms take effect when posted on the Service's information page. The Company may amend these terms to the extent that doing so does not violate applicable laws, and the amended terms apply from the time they are posted on this page. Changes unfavorable to users are posted from 7 days before the effective date. Users who do not agree to the amended terms may stop using the Service and delete their account.
Article 4 (Content of the Service)
- The Service detects files created by the device's built-in call recording feature, encrypts them, and, once decryption verification passes, deletes the originals according to the user's settings.
- The Service does not record calls. Recordings are created by the device manufacturer's call recording feature, and the Service handles only files already saved in the folder the user selects.
- The Service is built around the built-in call recording on Samsung Galaxy devices. On other devices or recording apps, recordings may not be detected or some features may not work.
- The Company does not guarantee uninterrupted service. Encryption and playback on the device keep working even while the server is down.
Article 5 (Password and Recovery Code)
The Service does not store the user's password or recovery code anywhere. Because it is designed so that even the Company cannot open recordings, if you lose both your password and your recovery code, no one can ever open your encrypted recordings. The Company has no way to restore them.
- The user is responsible for keeping the recovery code in a safe place themselves, such as on paper.
- When playing a recording or exporting it as an original file, the password must be entered every time, even if the vault was opened with biometric authentication.
- A Google account alone cannot open the vault. To open the vault on another device, the password or the recovery code is required.
Article 6 (Deletion of Original Files)
- An original recording is deleted only after the encrypted file has been decrypted again and confirmed to match the original. This verification cannot be turned off.
- For each folder, the user decides whether to delete originals by choosing either Keep original (원본 유지) or Delete after verification (검증 통과 후 삭제).
- Once the original is deleted, the encrypted file becomes the only copy. The user can keep needed recordings separately through cloud sync or by exporting originals.
- For a few minutes before encryption finishes, the original remains on the device as is.
Article 7 (Account)
- Local mode does not require an account. Cloud sync is available only after logging in with a Google account.
- Users are responsible for managing their own account and devices and may not transfer or lend their account to others. A lost device can be removed from the device list.
Article 8 (Free Use and Subscription)
- For free, you can keep up to 50 encrypted recordings on this device. New recordings beyond the limit are left in their original folder without being encrypted, and you are notified of this by a notification.
- Paid subscriptions come in two plans that renew automatically every month: Standard and Premium.
- Standard — 10 GB of cloud storage, 2 linked devices, export to original files (one at a time)
- Premium — 100 GB of cloud storage, 5 linked devices, export of several recordings at once (up to 100 at a time)
- The price is the amount shown on the Google Play payment screen, and a discount may be offered on the first subscription.
- The subscription renews automatically every month through Google Play recurring billing, and the user can cancel it at any time in Google Play's subscription management. Even after cancelling, subscription features remain available until the end of the period already paid for.
- Switching to a higher plan charges the difference for the remaining period and takes effect immediately. Switching to a lower plan takes effect from the next renewal date.
- Payments, refunds and withdrawal of purchases are subject to Google Play's policies and procedures.
- When the subscription ends, cloud uploads stop immediately, and based on the plan at the time it ended, the encrypted recordings uploaded to the server are deleted after 60 days for Standard and 180 days for Premium. Recordings on the device remain as they are.
- Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your Google Play subscription. To end the subscription, you must cancel it in Google Play.
Article 9 (User Obligations and Prohibited Conduct)
- The user is responsible for ensuring that the creation, storage and use of call recordings comply with applicable laws. The Service is a tool that encrypts recordings the user holds, and it does not judge or guarantee the lawfulness of the recordings themselves.
- Files exported as originals are not encrypted, so the user is responsible for managing exported files.
- Users must not reverse-engineer or decompile the Service, send automated bulk requests to the server, or attempt to access other users' accounts.
- Users must not use the server storage for purposes other than recordings, or interfere with the normal operation of the server.
Article 10 (Intellectual Property)
The rights to the Service's UI design, icons and code belong to the Company. The rights to the user's recordings belong to the user, and the Company does not view or use the content of recordings (by design, it cannot view them).
Article 11 (Retention and Deletion of Data)
The user can delete their server account and the encrypted recordings they uploaded by running Delete account (계정 탈퇴) in Settings (설정). Account deletion cannot be undone, and recordings with no copy on the device are lost along with it. The account deletion screen first shows how many recordings will be lost.
The detailed procedure is on the Account and Data Deletion page.
Article 12 (Personal Information)
The items of personal information the Service processes, the purposes and the retention periods are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Article 13 (Disclaimer)
- The Company is not liable where the user loses both the password and the recovery code and can no longer open recordings. This is an unavoidable result of the Service's security design.
- Detection of recordings may be delayed or missed because of changes in how the device manufacturer saves recordings, background restrictions of the operating system, or the user's permission and battery settings, and the Company does not guarantee that every recording will be processed.
- If data on the device is lost through loss of the device, a factory reset or deletion of the app, recordings that were not uploaded to the cloud cannot be recovered.
- The Company is not liable for damages caused by reasons beyond its control, such as natural disasters or infrastructure failures.
- This article does not exclude liability to the extent that applicable laws mandatorily impose liability on the Company, and it does not apply to damages caused by the Company's intent or gross negligence.
Article 14 (Inquiries and Governing Law)
Please send inquiries about the Service to [email protected]. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and any dispute arising in connection with the use of the Service shall be brought before the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
