Today's Choice — Same Day, Different Heart
A story that starts at a crosswalk on the way to work, passes through different days, and comes back to the same home. A portrait-only mobile choice-based adventure that branches across 242 scenes and 26 endings.
A day that starts at a crosswalk on the way to work
From the morning alarm until you get back home, you pick a choice at every scene you run into during the day. It's a story that starts at the crosswalk everyone crosses on the way to work, passes through different days, and comes back to the same home in the end.
Whether to tap the missed call or let it go, whether to cross before the light changes or wait one more round — small decisions like these pile up and decide how the day ends. Choices can't be undone, and time that has passed doesn't rewind.
A day, one scene at a time
Dialogue plays in each scene, and when it's your turn to choose, choice cards are laid out. 18 casual minigames cut in along the way, and the items you pick up during the day go into the 'Pocket'. Every scene has its own background music, and the track changes on the line where the story turns.
Background art, music and sound effects are all inside the app, so you don't need an internet connection to play through the story.
New paths every time you start over
The game has 242 scenes, 519 choices, 3,370 lines of dialogue and 26 endings. Twelve pieces of foreshadowing are planted across the day, and each ending leads into its own epilogue.
88 scenes don't open on the first playthrough, so even though every run starts from the same morning, paths you haven't seen open up as you replay. Scenes you've passed are kept in the 'Day Map', items you've picked up in the 'Pocket', and endings you've seen in 'Today's Diary', so you collect your days as you go.
Pick up where you left off, even on a new device
It's free to play with per-playthrough ads, and a one-time purchase removes the ads. Google sign-in is optional; once you sign in, cloud save lets you continue your progress even on a new device. Cloud save needs an internet connection, but a failed save never stops the game. Issue a link code on Android and enter it on the web (Toss) to play with the same record.
How it was made
I first built and released a web version, then brought the same story to an Android app. Every time the app is built, 12,000 random playthroughs run automatically to confirm that all 242 scenes and all 26 endings can be reached and that there are no dead ends.

There's no sign-up, but the app includes Google sign-in, cloud save, ads and a one-time purchase, so I've written down what it collects and what it doesn't.
